A surgical procedure

Comprehensive Surgical Services

Our hospital offers a range of procedures performed with exceptional attention to detail and patient comfort, including spays and neuters and soft-tissue surgery and repair.

For orthopedic procedures, we work closely with our trusted sister practice, Overton Veterinary Hospital, where advanced orthopedic surgeries are performed by their skilled surgical team.

What to Expect: Our AAHA-Guided Surgical Process

From preparation to recovery, every step of your pet’s surgical journey follows AAHA-recommended protocols to ensure the highest level of care.

Before Surgery

Your pet’s safety starts long before the procedure begins. We conduct a thorough pre-surgical process:

  • Pre-anesthetic bloodwork to evaluate organ function and ensure your pet can safely undergo anesthesia.
  • Anti-nausea medication, routinely given before anesthesia to proactively reduce nausea and help your pet recover more comfortably.
  • A review of your pet’s Pre-Anesthesia Form—please ask us for a copy so you can complete it ahead of your visit.

During Surgery

Your pet will be supported by a trained surgical team and advanced monitoring equipment at all times, including:

  • Sevoflurane anesthesia recommended—and in some cases required—for pets seven years and older, toy breeds, or for any at-risk patient. This inhaled anesthetic is extremely well tolerated and promotes quicker, smoother recovery times.
  • Continuous monitoring by both a dedicated veterinary technician and specialized monitoring equipment (see our Specialized Equipment page for details).
  • Heated surgery tables to help maintain body temperature throughout the procedure.
  • BAIR Hugger® warming systems, used to keep anesthetized pets warm and stable (learn more on our Specialized Equipment page).
  • Body temperature monitoring during and after surgery for optimal safety.

Recovery & Post-Op Care

Your pet will be supervised using AAHA-recommended anesthesia monitoring sheets, ensuring every vital sign is documented and tracked with precision.

We know many pet parents worry about anesthesia. That’s why we emphasize transparency and safety at every step. All anesthetized pets are monitored continuously using SurgiVet® monitoring equipment and hands-on observation from our trained team.

From start to finish, your pet receives individualized care designed to keep them safe, comfortable, and on the path to a smooth recovery.
